Full Description
Up for sale is a genuine, fired World War II-era U.S. Navy brass artillery shell casing. This is a 3-inch/50-caliber (3"/50) casing, representing the standard and famous naval anti-aircraft and anti-surface gun heavily utilized on destroyer escorts, submarines, and auxiliary vessels during the war.
**Physical Characteristics & Details:**
* **Base Markings:** Clearly stamped with "3 IN. MK 7" and "50 CAL". It features a highly desirable WWII manufacture date of "6-1945". The base also retains original military ink stamps (U756 / SPON) and the primer is marked "MK42-1".
* **Side Markings:** The side of the brass casing retains the distinct stamp "WITH ELECTRIC PRIMER".
* **Dimensions:** The casing stands exactly 23 inches tall, as shown in the tape measurements.
* **Condition:** Authentic fired surplus condition. It remains unpolished, retaining a beautiful, honest military patina with natural tarnish. There is a slight dent/deformation at the mouth of the casing (very common from the violent ejection process on these large naval guns). Please review the photos for exact condition.
* **Safety Notice:** This casing is an empty, fired piece of brass and is **100% INERT**. It contains no explosives, propellant, or hazardous materials.
