This is a substantially correct 1944 M1 Garand that is in great shape. The serial number is from June 1944 and the barrel on this rifle is 6-44. The op rod is uncut and is a curved side –9. It still has the lock-bar sights. I think the bolt and trigger group revision numbers match, but I’ve forgotten some of the date/code correlations. The barrel throat is a 5 so you’ve got another 5,000 rounds of shooting before you need to turn it in to the armorer for a rebarrel and the muzzle measures 1.5. The bore is excellent. The wood is all GI walnut. All 3 pieces have normal service use showing. They are a nice matched set, but I don’t see any cartouche markings left.

This is not your average M1 Garand.

I've owned this rifle for 25-30 years and haven't had the heart to shoot it, but it's a great rifle that you can put to work, if you want to.
