1970’s Remington 1100 MOD
1970,s Remington 1100. Shiny bore. Overall in good shape, with signs of field use.
Lemme start by saying this was a field gun, so there are a few marks and scratches throughout the barrel and receiver from handling and use in the field. The stock has a couple of light dings and scratches(most of which have not penetrated the clear coat). Overall, it's still in pretty good shape for a fifty year old shotgun. The shotgun was taken down, and thoroughly cleaned before sale. The engraved action slides smooth, and has a new o ring installed( 2 more OEM rings will be included with sale). I replaced the mag spring and follower with a new Wilson's combat setup. The mag retainer was upgraded to a browning ring(it's a superior design, they're held with snap rings instead of the Remington flat head). Beyond that the gun is bone stock. It's got a 28" barrel chambered in MOD. This was a big selling point for me when I picked it up. The MOD barrels are pretty hard to find these days. Classic walnut furniture with the fleur de lane checkering. It's a good gun and has years of service ahead. Bad news is there's a crack in the front of the forearm. This is a typical problem for 1100's, if you know you know. I spread the crack and filled it with a two part epoxy that's steel reinforced, and tied it up with surgical hose for 24 hrs.. The epoxy made contact with the metal sleeve and the wood, and was sanded flush. I've used this method on a few different shotguns over the years and have never had a problem. Also, the cool white diamond inlay on the bottom of the grip cap is long gone. This is a twenty dollar problem in the event you want to replace it. I'd prefer to mention these things here, than have you find out after driving across town to meet. I know a lot of people pull stuff like that here, and it's just not how I prefer to do things.
So there it is. A classic American shotgun that was just like your dad's or grandpas. It's no museum piece, and it has its character. But overall it's in pretty damn good shape for its age.
Im open to trades as long as its got a trigger on it. In advance respectfully I'm not interested in bolt guns or obscure calibers. I'm pretty versatile with 2a but I'm primarily interested in handguns and rifles. Over and unders are of interest, but I'm not interested in Turkish or South American shotguns. Keep the trades at comparable value. If you've got and questions feel free to ask. If you'd like more pics send me your email address and I will oblige.
