The Sako M995, also known as the TRG-S, is a highly regarded, rugged bolt-action rifle produced by the Finnish manufacturer Sako in the 1990s. Designed as a hunting-oriented variant of the famous TRG precision line, it is celebrated for its massive, incredibly smooth action, reliability, and exceptional out-of-the-box accuracy. 
 
Core Features
    • Action: Based on the large/magnum TRG-41 action. It features a massive bolt with three symmetrical locking lugs and a short 60-degree lift.
    • Design & Weight: It utilizes a lightweight, high-tech composite stock with an integrated reinforced skeleton. Because it is a scaled-up magnum action, it is known for being hefty, which helps manage heavy recoil
  • Trigger: Known for an excellent, highly adjustable factory trigger (usually between 2-4 lbs). 
  • Mounting: Features the traditional Sako tapered dovetail system for optics.

While it was a triumph of engineering, the M995 was relatively expensive to produce and ahead of its time for synthetic-stock hunting rifles in the 90s, leading Sako to discontinue the line. Today, it is highly sought after by hunters and long-range shooters. It frequently serves as a premium, heavy-duty "poor man's base" for custom precision builds because the action itself is essentially a sporterized TRG-42
