The M&P Shield is a slim, lightweight, polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol designed around the M&P platform. The original 9mm Shield features a 3.1-inch barrel, an overall length of approximately 6.1 inches, and an unloaded weight of approximately 19 ounces. Smith & Wesson equipped the Shield with a black stainless-steel slide and barrel, a rigid stainless-steel internal chassis, and a textured grip designed to provide a secure and comfortable hold.
