Full Description
Up for sale is a genuine, fully transferable pre-1986 Auto-Ordnance Corporation (West Hurley, New York) M1A1 Thompson Submachine Gun in .45 ACP.
Markings:
- Right side receiver: “AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A.”
- Left side: “THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN CALIBER .45MI NO. M59*A”
- Clearly marked “FULL AUTO” with functioning fire/safe selector
- Classic M1A1 configuration with horizontal foregrip, fixed wooden buttstock, and simplified open-bolt design
This is one of the scarce post-war commercial West Hurley M1A1 variants produced in very limited numbers before the 1986 Hughes Amendment. The low “M” prefix serial (M597A) places it in this desirable small production run. These commercial M1A1 Thompsons are significantly rarer than the more common 1928-style West Hurley models or WWII military guns.
Condition: Very good to excellent original condition. Retains strong original brush-blue finish with only light handling marks. Walnut wood furniture (pistol grip, horizontal foregrip, and fixed buttstock) shows nice grain with minor patina and no cracks or heavy damage. Markings are sharp and clear. Bore is bright with good rifling (functions smoothly as a registered machine gun).
Included with the gun:
- Leather sling
- Four (5) 30-round stick magazines (3 used, 2 new sealed in package)
This Thompson is currently in the possession of an FFL/SOT with clean transfer history and the appropriate NFA paperwork/stamp ready for a Form 4 transfer.
Price: $27,500 (or best reasonable offer – serious inquiries only)
This is a true collector-grade piece with the correct M1A1 profile that many enthusiasts seek but rarely find in the transferable market. Perfect for any Thompson collection or historical display.
Serious buyers only – please contact us with any questions or to arrange inspection/transfer. All NFA rules apply. No trades.
