Full Description

This scope is brand new, never been mounted and fired, just got it back from the factory.  I had a Gen1 and it developed issues, I sent it back to the factory last week on Monday, they received it on Thursday, and I had a new Gen3 delivered to my house the following Monday.  Can't complain about warranty or support. I've enclosed the factory info below:

The Athlon Argos BTR Gen3 10-40x56 is widely celebrated as a premier budget-friendly optic for precision long-range shooting, F-Class, and benchrest disciplines. Priced around $600, it offers unmatched tracking and reticle utility for its class, punching well above its weight.

Key Specifications & Features

  • Magnification & Objective: 10-40x magnification with a massive 56mm objective lens for maximum light gathering.
  • Reticle: Second Focal Plane (SFP) ABLR4 MOA reticle featuring fine lines and a floating center dot.
  • Turrets: 0.125 MOA adjustments with vastly improved, tactile, and audible clicks compared to previous generations.
  • Parallax Adjustment: Side focus down to 10 yards to infinity, perfect for close-range precision or extreme long-range.
  • Durability: Aircraft-grade aluminum 30mm tube that is waterproof, shockproof, and Argon-purged.

The Pros

  • Superb Value: One of the only high-magnification scopes with precise 1/8 MOA adjustments available
  • Upgraded Turrets: The Gen3 features upgraded turrets with high-contrast etchings, solid zero-stop, and excellent tactile feedback.
  • Excellent Tracking: Delivers spot-on, repeatable tracking for dialing in at long distances.
  • Close Focus: Parallax adjusts down to 10 yards, making it highly versatile even for airguns or rimfire precision.

The Cons

  • Glass Clarity at Max Magnification: Because it lacks exotic ED/HD glass, image resolution can soften at the absolute highest magnifications or in low-light environments.
  • Non-Locking Turrets: Designed specifically for precision bench/F-Class shooting, the turrets are non-locking and not ideally suited for "run-and-gun" tactical shooting or barricade work.
  • Weight: Weighs roughly 31.8 ounces, which is fairly standard for a scope this size but something to consider if weight limits are a concern.
