For sale is a highly desired Winchester Model 70 30.06 Springfield with the serial number 148537 meaning the rifle was manufactured in 1950.  It has a 24 inch barrel and the original stock although slightly shortened.  This was my father's hunting rifle.  He bought it used in about 1955 from my uncle who was a rifle hobbyist/amatteur gunsmith.  My father was a short man and I believe he had the stock shortened a bit and put a rubber recoil pad on it to get a proper fit for his shorter arms.  I still have the box the recoil pad came in and the metal butt plate that came off the rifle.  My uncle also installed the 2.5 power Kolmorgen Bear Cub II scope that is still on the rifle.  Both the rifle and the scope are collector items.  I am only selling this rifle because I have no children or grandchildren who have any interest in hunting.  It saddens me to part with it and I won't for any less than the $1500 I have it priced at.  The rifle is in very good conditoon and shows only light wear for the many years of being used for both deer and elk hunting.
